Three-Phase EV Chargers: Unlocking Efficient and Rapid Charging for Electric Vehicles

In recent years, the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has skyrocketed, as people around the world embrace the transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation options. However, as the popularity of EVs grows, so does the need for efficient and rapid charging solutions. This is where three-phase EV chargers step into the spotlight, offering immense benefits that revolutionize the EV charging experience.

Reduced Charging Times

One of the standout advantages of three-phase EV chargers is their ability to significantly reduce charging times compared to their single-phase counterparts. By distributing the electrical power across three alternating currents, these chargers provide a more balanced and efficient charging process. This means that EV owners can replenish their vehicle’s battery at a considerably faster rate, eliminating the typical long waiting times associated with charging. Thus, three-phase EV chargers play a crucial role in making EV ownership a more convenient and practical reality, enhancing user experience and convenience.

Maximising Grid Efficiency

Moreover, three-phase EV chargers contribute to maximising grid efficiency. By utilizing three alternating currents, these chargers can effectively balance the load on the electrical grid, preventing any unnecessary strain during the charging process. This improves the overall stability and resilience of the grid, ensuring that other energy consumers are not adversely affected by the high demand of EV charging. Consequently, the widespread adoption of three-phase EV chargers can alleviate concerns related to grid capacity and successfully integrate a larger number of electric vehicles into the system without sacrificing stability or reliability.

Future Proof Charging Capabilities

Another vital advantage of three-phase EV chargers lies in their compatibility with future-proof charging specifications. As the EV industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, embracing new technologies and advancements, the need for more advanced charging infrastructure becomes essential. Three-phase chargers are designed to support higher charging capacities, allowing them to adapt to the increasing power requirements of future EV models. By investing in three-phase chargers, EV owners can future-proof their charging infrastructure and ensure compatibility with the next generation of electric vehicles, providing long-term value and convenience.

Conclusion

In conclusion, three-phase EV chargers offer a range of benefits that make them the superior choice for efficient and rapid charging. From reducing charging times and improving grid stability to being compatible with future charging specifications, these chargers play a pivotal role in driving the adoption and acceptance of electric vehicles. As the world continues to transition towards a greener and more sustainable future, three-phase EV chargers will undoubtedly be at the forefront of the charging infrastructure has become an integral component of the rapidly expanding renewable energy sector. As electric vehicles (EVs) continue to gain popularity, the need for an efficient and widespread charging network has never been greater. Governments, businesses, and individuals alike are investing heavily in the development and installation of charging stations to support the growing number of EVs on the road. This infrastructure not only facilitates convenient and accessible charging options for EV owners, but also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a cleaner and sustainable future. Furthermore, advancements in charging technology, such as fast chargers and wireless charging, are continuously pushing the boundaries of convenience and efficiency. With the continuous growth of charging infrastructure, the transition towards a greener transportation system becomes ever more viable, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable tomorrow.

There is also a Myenergi app that allows you to access and control your devices from anywhere in the world, and you can pin code protect the charger with a 5 digit pin for added security, stopping people from changing your settings or using the charger without permission. You can buy the Zappi with tethered (comes with a type 2 charger and cable) or untethered, and black or white.

There are 3 modes :

ECO – This mode is a mixture of green energy and imported energy. It minimises the use of grid power to charge using 100% green energy from your renewable energy system, continuously adjusting in response to changes in generation or power being consumed elsewhere in the home. If surplus energy drops below 1.4 kW then power will be drawn from the grid

ECO+ – Charging power is continuously adjusted based on generation and demand from the home. The EV charging will pause if there is too much imported power from the grid, only continuing once surplus free power is available again.

FAST – The EV will be charged at maximum power, no matter where the power is derived from.

Myenergi have also developed a couple of other products to make your life easier.

Eddi – This allows you to direct 100% of your clean and green energy around your home, therefore no more exporting it back to the grid.

Harvi – This allows you to install the Zappi and Eddi without any unsightly hard wired current transformer (CT) clamps.

FAST – The EV will charge at maximum power. Either from your renewable energy source or the grid, only limited by any current limit set by your electrician at point of installation.

SOLAR ASSIST – This mode will charge your EV at a minimum of 6 Amps plus any excess solar produced. If solar production is low, power will be drawn from the grid. This is the preferred solar mode, particularly on cloudy days or when you have a smaller solar system. This will ensure a continuous charge plus any excess solar that your home generates.

SOLAR ONLY – This mode charges your EV only when excess solar is produced. Please note a minimum excess of 7 Amps is required to use this mode to prevent excessive starting and stopping of the charging session which is not recommended. If the solar production drops below 6 Amps the charging will pause and then restart after 2-3 minutes of continuous excess solar above 7 Amps. We recommend this mode when you have a clear excess of solar power produced. Use Solar Assist when your production is low or intermittent.
